She Rises, Dancing

She Rises, Dancing, is a work commissioned for the Mananan Festival.

The piece uses the acoustics of the Erin Arts Centre to blend spoken word into electronic composition through the acoustic of the concert hall itself. The work is directly shaped by the unique shape and sound of the auditorium and aims to bring the space to life in new ways, exploring the idea of reverberation, echo and all those sounds which we might forget surround us. 

It is based around a poem of mine, performed by Iain Dixon and Saoirse Coyle-Carroll that draws on the story of Echo and Narcissus as told by Ovid, reflecting on those things that, perhaps unacknowledged, surround and colour our experience.
