Call for Scores

An opportunity for Manx Composers to have their work professionally performed

We are very excited to be working with professional string quartet, the Talland Quartet, to bring Caillagh to life.

As part of this project, the Talland Quartet are offering a rare opportunity to Isle of Man composers to have their work professionally performed alongside the premiere of Caillagh. The performance will take place in at St German's Cathedral in Peel on the 25th of September in a concert also featuring selected pieces submitted by Isle of Man composers.

This is your chance to have your music performed by these exceptional musicians!

Deadline: 1st July 2026

Eligibility: Any composers based on the Isle of Man (including students studying elsewhere) may send in pieces. Composers of any age and level of experience are welcome!

What to send us

Please email a PDF of your score(s) to hello@matthewwarren.info

You can submit up to three pieces, so pick your best to send us!

The Brief

Pieces should be:

- Between one and three minutes in duration;

- Fully scored for any combination of violin 1, violin 2, viola and cello;

- Original work of the named composers;

- Substantially original rather than arrangements. For instance, an arrangement of Greensleeves would not be eligible, but Vaughan-Williams could submit his Fantasia on Greensleeves (if he were still around to do so!) Any material borrowed from elsewhere should be in the public domain or otherwise within the composer's rights to use.

Pieces where any unacknowledged AI assistance has been used are not eligible. Where there is acknowledged AI use, pieces may be considered if the use of AI is not thought to compromise the originality of the piece. If in doubt, ask us!

The Selection Process

- Sadly, we can't perform all of the pieces you send! The programme will be selected by the Caillagh creative team, based on factors such as the quality of work, originality and its suitability whole programme.

We're so excited to hear your music!
